Nageshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located near Dwarka in Gujarat. History & Mythological Significance
According to legends, a demon named Daruka imprisoned a Shiva devotee named Supriya along with other captives. Lord Shiva appeared to free them and defeated the demon, taking the form of a Jyotirlinga. This place was thus named Nageshwar, meaning “Lord of the Serpents.”
The temple is also mentioned in the Shiv Purana, making it one of the holiest places for Lord Shiva’s devotees.
