Jagannath Ji Pataka Seva

Category:

Product Description

The Jagannath Ji Pataka is a divine offering and spiritual symbol associated with the holy Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha. These sacred flags are hoisted on homes, temples, and sacred spaces to invoke the blessings of Lord Jagannath and to protect the surroundings from negative energies.

Traditionally offered in sizes like 5 haath (5 हाथ), 7 haath, 11 haath, and 14 haath, each Jagannath Pataka carries deep spiritual meaning. The term haath is a traditional unit of measurement (approx. 1.5 feet). For instance:

  • 5 haath Pataka ≈ 7.5 feet
  • 7 haath Pataka ≈ 10.5 feet
  • 11 haath Pataka ≈ 16.5 feet
  • 14 haath Pataka ≈ 21 feet

These flags are usually made in red, yellow, or white cloth, and adorned with sacred symbols like the Chakra, Shankha, Trishul, or divine images of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra. Many Patakas are handcrafted using traditional Applique work from Odisha by artisans around the Puri temple.
