Product Description

Naamkaran Sanskar is one of the 16 significant sacraments (Sanskaras) in Hindu tradition, where a newborn is given a name. This ritual is typically performed on the 10th day after birth.

Naamkaran Sanskar Ritual Process

  1. The baby’s horoscope is created based on the date, time, and planetary positions at the time of birth.
  2. The child’s zodiac sign (Rashi) is determined, and the astrologer suggests the first letter of the name accordingly.
  3. A sacred fire (Havan) is performed, and Brahmins are offered food as part of the ritual.
  4. The parents hold sacred items like roli, rice grains, and flowers while worshipping the Earth with Vedic mantras.
  5. A purification ceremony (Yagna) is conducted for the mother and the newborn.
  6. During the ritual, offerings are made into the fire while chanting the mantra: “Om Bhur Bhuvah Swaha.”
  7. Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays are considered auspicious for Naamkaran Sanskar, while days like Amavasya (New Moon), Chaturthi, and Ashtami are avoided.
